The Opportunity
Jewish Senior Life of Eastern Pennsylvania is seeking an accomplished, mission-driven Chief Executive Officer to provide unified enterprise leadership across its affiliated senior living, healthcare, and charitable organizations.
This is a distinctive opportunity to shape a newly formalized enterprise CEO role and help define the next chapter of an organization that has served Northeastern Pennsylvania for more than a century.
The CEO will work in partnership with the organization’s Boards and senior leadership to establish a cohesive enterprise strategy, strengthen operational and financial performance, develop and support organizational leadership, advance philanthropy and community partnerships, and identify opportunities to expand Jewish Senior Life’s impact throughout the region.
This role calls for more than an operator. Jewish Senior Life is seeking a leader who can bring together strategy, healthcare, finance, culture, governance, philanthropy, and community engagement while creating alignment across multiple organizations and stakeholder groups.

The CEO’s Mandate
The Chief Executive Officer will serve as the senior enterprise leader for Jewish Senior Life of Eastern Pennsylvania and its affiliated organizations.
Working closely with the Boards and senior leadership team, the CEO will be responsible for establishing strategic direction and ensuring appropriate accountability for organizational, operational, and financial performance.
Key priorities will include:
- Developing and executing an integrated long-term strategy across the enterprise.
- Creating strong alignment among affiliated organizations, operating leaders, Boards, and other stakeholders.
- Providing strategic and financial leadership, including budgeting, long-range planning, capital allocation, resource deployment, and evaluation of future opportunities.
- Establishing clear organizational structures, roles, reporting relationships, performance expectations, and accountability.
- Supporting strong operating performance while empowering experienced operational leaders to manage day-to-day functions.
- Building, developing, and retaining a high-performing senior leadership team.
- Strengthening organizational culture through transparency, communication, collaboration, accountability, and trust.
- Working effectively with highly engaged volunteer Boards and establishing productive governance and management relationships.
- Advancing development, philanthropy, planned giving, grants, and stewardship of important donor relationships.
- Deepening relationships with hospitals, healthcare systems, community organizations, foundations, donors, volunteers, and other regional partners.
- Identifying opportunities for strategic partnerships, affiliations, new services, programs, and other avenues for mission-driven growth.
- Ensuring the organization remains responsive to evolving healthcare, senior living, regulatory, workforce, and community needs.
- Serving as a visible ambassador for Jewish Senior Life throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania and within the broader senior living and healthcare community.
Leadership Profile
Jewish Senior Life is seeking an executive who combines healthcare credibility with enterprise-level strategic leadership.
The successful candidate will bring significant senior leadership experience within a complex healthcare, senior living, post-acute, acute-care, or multi-entity environment.
Ideal candidates will demonstrate:
Strategic and Financial Leadership
Meaningful experience with P&L accountability, budgeting, long-range planning, financial analysis, capital and resource allocation, and evaluating opportunities through both financial and mission-driven perspectives.
Enterprise Leadership
The ability to lead across multiple organizations, properties, service lines, or business units and create alignment among operating executives, Boards, employees, and other constituencies.
Healthcare and Operational Credibility
A strong understanding of healthcare delivery and the ability to effectively oversee experienced operating leaders, evaluate performance, ask the right questions, and establish accountability.
Organizational and Cultural Leadership
Demonstrated ability to build effective teams, develop leaders, strengthen communication, establish accountability, and create a cohesive organizational culture.
Board and Governance Experience
The maturity and executive presence to work productively with engaged Boards and volunteer leaders while maintaining transparency, building trust, and establishing appropriate distinctions between governance and management.
Development and External Relations
Experience or demonstrated capability in donor cultivation, philanthropy, grants, planned giving, community partnerships, and stewardship of important institutional relationships.
Mission Alignment
An appreciation for leading within a values-based organization and the cultural sensitivity necessary to steward an institution with deep roots in the Jewish community while serving individuals of diverse faiths and backgrounds.
Preferred Experience
While no single background is required, particularly attractive experience may include:
- Senior living, skilled nursing, post-acute care, healthcare, hospital, or related healthcare services.
- Oversight of multiple properties, service lines, operating units, or affiliated organizations.
- Nonprofit, charitable, foundation, or other mission-driven organizations.
- Faith-based or community-oriented institutions.
- Development, fundraising, planned giving, grants, or foundation relationships.
- Strategic partnerships, affiliations, new service development, or organizational growth.
- Relationships with healthcare systems, hospitals, community organizations, foundations, or other relevant stakeholders.
Candidates do not need to come exclusively from the nonprofit sector or currently hold a CEO title.
Exceptional senior healthcare executives, including accomplished Presidents, COOs, regional or multi-site executives, and other enterprise-level leaders, will be considered if they demonstrate the strategic breadth, financial sophistication, leadership maturity, and mission alignment required for the role.

Compensation
Jewish Senior Life of Eastern Pennsylvania intends to offer a competitive executive compensation package consisting of base salary and performance-based incentive compensation commensurate with the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate.
